amanohashidate
Miyazu City is situated in the northern part of Kyoto prefecture. It is a coastal resort spot which can be reached in about 2 hours from Kyoto Station or Osaka Station by limited express train.
Amanohashidate located in the gulf of Miyazu, in the northern part of Kyoto prefecture,
is one of "Japan's Three Famous Views"(Japan's three most celebrated scenic sights).
It was chosen from hundreds of scenic sights all over Japan and is the main tourism
spot in northern Kyoto prefecture.
Amanohashidate is a sandbar with a width between about 20 and 170 meters and a total length of 3.6km on which over 8000 pine trees of various sizes grow rampant. "Amanohashidate" (bridge to the heavens) got its name because of its rare shape, which resembles a bridge that spans between the earth and the heavens.
Many people visit here to see this mysterious shape created by nature over thousands of years.
The "Cultural Landscape of Miyazu Amanohashidate" in Fuchuu district was chosen as one of the important Cultural Landscapes of Japan.
① In Amanohashidate, the oldest place of sacred energy in Japan, are three shrines, the "Motoise Kono Shrine", "Amanohashidate Shrine" and the "Manai Shrine".
Especially because these three power spots are pooled, it is a rare place even for Japan. Consequently it is praised as Japan's leading place of sacred energy.
It is said that this is where the Gods of the Grand Shrine at Ise descended to and moved from. So to speak, "Motoise Kono Shrine" is the origin of the Grand Shrine at Ise.
The five colored balls, "Suetama" (sitting ball) on the balustrade, which only the Grand Shrine at Ise and Kono Shrine are allowed to have, emit a solemn and mysterious light.

② The "Amanohashidate Shrine" in the center of Amanohashidate has been a location to support the fulfillment of love since ancient times. Couples come to this miraculous place to put stones onto the top of the "Tori" (shrine gate).

③ Kono Shrine's rear shrine, Manai Shrine, is also called "Kushihama no Miya". "Kushi" means source of a wonderful and miraculous power. It enshrines the main gods of the Inner Shrine and Outer Shrine of Ise as well as the gods Izanagi and Izanami, who formed Japan, making it a very special place.

Behind the Main Shrine there is an ancient religious service ground with an "iwakura" (dwelling place of a god), it has been keep in the same form for over 2500 years and enshrines many gods such as Toyooke Ookami and Amaterasu Oomikami.
The power or aura emitted from this iwakura fills the area around it with a slightly fearful ambience so that
even people who usually feel nothing state "something is here, astonishing" making it a place where the
atmosphere prevents people from carelessly stepping into it. In fact, the local tourism association warns
visitors "Please refrain from prayers with impure feelings", which we agree with.
Through our cuisine which focuses on seafood, you can experience and taste the seasons of the Tango area. (A course meal with first-class Japanese tradition.)
